Ukraine24 Now on Freeview

An important update from freeview is the addition of some new internet TV channels. This includes ‘Ukraine24’ a direct Ukrainian News feed. Worth a look for an insight into the view from Ukraine.

These channels are accessed on channel 271 (channelbox).

For internet enabled TVs this channel offers a range of choices of internet channel to view. This covers news, entertainment and sport.

In their words channel box is “A new take on video delivery to Freeview ,Channelbox is a bundle of free-to-air TV channels delivered to Freeview 271 via the Internet or App”

More widely this looks like an interesting proof of concept for direct streaming within the freeview channel system.

Expect the first internet only (no cables!) TVs by mid 2023!
