Xmas Films!-What to watch and where?

With less than a week until Xmas arrives soon many of us will soon be sat wrapping presents and looking for something festive to watch. So what tops the charts and where can we watch it? With the plethora of on demand apps available we’re spoilt for choice but here’s our run down for this year.

5. Elf (2003) – easily a strong comedic choice. Arguable Will Ferrell’s defining role and filled with plenty of laughter. Kid friendly and increasingly enjoyable to watch as consumption of festive (read ‘alcoholic’) drinks increases.

Where to watch: Apple TV (4K), Now TV (HD), Sky Store (HD) & Youtube.

4. Die Hard (1988)- Contentious as a choice to some, but to many now an Xmas staple. One of the best known action movies of all time and definitely one to enjoy. Be warned getting to involved is likely to slow down any wrapping activities (at least during the Han Gruber death scene…nice).

Where to watch; Disney+ (4K), Apple TV (HD), Youtube (HD)

3.  The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)-   Simply for the fact the Michael Cain plays it completely deadpan this is Christmas regular with us. Plenty of jokes for both the adults and the kids and at the end of the day as a retelling of Charles Dicken’s work it almost counts as cultured.

Where to watch; Apple TV (4K), Disney + (4k), Sky Store (HD)

2. The Snowman  (1982)- Beautifully shot and animated from start to finish. A real heart-warming classic. Assuming the kids have infiltrated the lounge then it’s a feel-good movie choice to enjoy together. Plus at only 28minutes you can soon put them to bed and crack open the wine…

Where to watch: Apple TV (HD), ITV X (HD) , Brit Box (HD)

1. The nightmare before Christmas (1993). Spanning both the Halloween and Xmas holidays (good marketing clearly) this stop motion film contains an entertaining story, some great songs and is visually stunning to watch. A great choice even just to admire the time and effort in its production.

Where to watch;  Disney + (4K), Apple TV (4K), Youtube (HD), Sky Store (HD)

Whether your company for the day is a horde of family, a few select friends or even just the festivities on TV we hope you have a safe, enjoyable and merry Xmas.
